Wedding bells and translators
Well, who would have thought you'd have to jump through so many hoops to get married in Cancun..... Here is a laundry list of crap we have to do to be legally married down there.
- Couple must have birth certificate, divorce decrees, name change documents, and death certificates if widowed. These documents MUST be translated by a certified translator and then stamped by a Mexican consolate. The closest one to me is an hour away.
- We have to arrive at our resort at a minimum of 3 days prior to have blood tests and a medical exam done.
- If your divorce is under a year old, the woman has to take a pregnancy test. LOL Mine will be 2 years old by then.
- You have to have 4 witnesses. If they are your family, you have to have them also arrive 3 days prior to wedding date. They have to fill out paperwork and have thier passport and tourist visa.
- Passports will be required in Cancun in 2008, so we all have to apply for those.
Anyway...this is just a glimpse of what you have to do to marry in Mexico. I hope it all goes smoothly. Apparently if anything is messed up or missing, they wont marry you. Wish me luck!
